Chineese Student Xiao Zhang Sold Kidney to buy the iPad 2 Model

A high school student from Anhui Province in China has apparently sold one of his kidneys for 20,000 yuan, which is $3,171 dollars, so he could buy himself an iPad 2.

Talk about selling your body part for a new piece of technology. Xiao Zhang reportedly sold one of his kidneys for nearly $3171 dollars so he could buy himself a shiny new iPad 2. Zhang confessed to his mother that he was motivated to sell his kidney after seeing an online advertisement offering cash to those who wanted to be an organ donor.

When Zhang's mom discovered the iPad 2, she forced him to reveal how he attained the gizmo. "I wanted to buy an iPad 2, but I didn't have the money," said Zhang. The iPad 2 was not the only thing he bought. Zhang also purchased an iPhone and a laptop.

The hospital where Zhang had his kidney removed, Chenzhou 198 Hospital in Hunan Provine, is reportedly not qualified to do kidney transplants. The hospital continues to deny that it was involved with the organ removal. Zheng's mother took the matter to police, who were unable to contact the people responsible for the organ trade or the buyers.
