SBS 2008 RWW No Computers available Notice

After installing a new Windows 2008 SBS server you may receive the following notice when using the Remote Web Workplace website to connect to a remote computer. "No computers available" Unless you are an administrator all standard users receive the notice after logging into the RWW site an attempting to connect to an internal computer. This is because the computer was not added using the SBSconnect option on the internal SBS website.

Adding computers to the domain using the standard option under the my computer properties still works but there are some quirks. One such issue is that that computer will not be added to the available list of RWW computer when logging in for remote access unless you are a administrator.

If you do make the mistake on add each computer from the my computer properties location have no fear. Adding each computer again using the sbsconnectcomputer web site listed below. By default the internal web address is http://sbsconnectcomputer/SBSServer.aspx. Add the computer using the web directions. For that computer you can add only the default user or any and all users in your network. It is a very quick and easy fix. Then reboot the computer when prompted. You will know have that computer available as a option for all RWW users to connect to remotely.

For each user to connect to there workstation use the SBS console and find that user listed.

Double click on the user who will connect to the RWW site and you will see an option for remote access. Click on the remote access option and pick the default computer for that user. You are now done configuring the computer and user access. Test each user after configuring there individual computer. Don't forget to tell them that they will need to keep there computer on for RWW access to work. You may be surprised as to how many users this it will just magically turn on by itself.
