"Verify the installation of Netapp ASL (Array Support Libarary) ASL is required if you going to use Symantec(Veritas) Volume Manager for Solaris, Linux, HP and AIX"

Following is example for Solaris.

1) Download the ASL from symantec site.


VxVM 4.x(Solaris)

For VxVM 5.0 (Solaris)

2) install the NTAPasl package.

gunzip
tar
pkgadd


3) Verify that the installation was successful.

pkginfo -l NTAPasl.

4) After the ASL package is installed, run following command to claim the disk array as NetApp device:

# vxdctl enable

If the host is connected to the storage system, verify the installation by entering the following command and then locating the

Enclosure Type in the output of the vxdmpadm listenclosure all command.

5) After enabling the disk array, run the vxddladm listsupport command:


# vxddladm listsupport libname=libnetapp.so
