Windows 8 Fastest Boot Time - 'Windows 8 boots in eight seconds?'

Image
Lookout! What was that? Do my eyes deceive me, or was that a wicked fast boot time from a windows PC? Believe it or not, that is exactly what it was. The MSDN Blog began a series last night on “fundamentals”. The first fundamental they are covering is that of boot time. Steven Sinofsky, President of Windows and Windows Live Division of Microsoft, stated in the blog post’s preamble, “When it comes to talking about “fundamentals” we want to start with boot time – no feature gets talked about and measured more. We designed Windows 8 so that you shouldn’t have to boot all that often (and we are always going to work on reducing the number of required restarts due to patching running code). But when you do boot we want it to be as fast as possible.” We’ve heard a lot about boot time in the past when it came to Windows, however, Windows 8 may prove to be the real deal this time. The video embedded below, was posted as part of the MSDN blog post. It is an impressive display to say the least.

Does Any One Know When Windows 8 Final Beta & Original Version Releasing?

Image
Everyone (All Over the World) waiting to hear the release date of Windows 8 Version. So far Microsoft official didn't confirmed when it is going to launch all over. Here goes some more which I've grabbed for you from other websites/blogs. The Windows 8 release date has been shrouded in a cloud of rumors. Most experts expect a late 2011 early 2012 release of the operating system. A recently leaked Windows 8 product cycle chart provides the answers needed to determine the release date of the next Windows OS by Microsoft. You can take a look at the image here. The chart lists the planning, development and readiness product cycle of Windows 8 and related Microsoft products such as Internet Explorer 8, Windows Live Wave 4, Windows Live Wave 5 and Windows 7. It also lists major events. Some events and products have already been held / released and it is possible to pinpoint the release date of Windows 8 by making the remaining calculations. Here is what we know. Forum I and

All About Protogon File System in Windows 8, New Features (NTFS Vs Protogon)

Image
News about Windows 8 has relatively cooled down over the last few weeks. However, today we learned of a new feature in Windows 8 codenamed "Protogon." "Protogon" was discovered by Sandro Villinger at ITworld. It revolves around the concept of a new filesystem: "I’ve also dug up traces of some underlying file system changes that I couldn’t quite make sense of, such as an entirely new file system driver called "NT Protogon FS driver", which looks like a kernel mode driver for some sort of (yet unknown) file system called Protogon. It’s unclear, whether this is a major new file system or just some minor subsystem." Mary Jo Foley consulted with Rafael Rivera about the concept and came to the conclusion that "it seems to incorporate database-like concepts like transactions, cursors, rows and tables" with the capability of replacing or emulating NTFS. This might also be a new implementation of Microsoft's past attempt

How To: Tips To Enable Immersive Browser in Windows 8 Build 7955

Image
If you are running Windows 8 build 7955, then surely you would like to see the new Immersive Browser running on your system. To run immersive browser you have to first patch the Windows using Red Pill which we have posted earlier. Once you have patched the system files just press CTRL+Shift+F9 (it would disable aero effects in Windows 8 and seems to be a way to enable UI for tablet PC’s). Then just go to the Program Files-> Microsoft –>Immersive Browser –>Microsoft.ImmersiveBrowser and click on miexplorer file . You would see the immersive browser running with very limited functionalities. The immersive Browser which opens doesn’t have a close button and only have options like forward and back button and reload.

Windows 8 - How it is going to be, looks like, features, when Beta to Release?

Image
Microsoft has just taken the wraps off its upcoming Windows OS (codenamed Windows 8), which will run on ARM’s architecture. It will be a sort of all-in-one OS that would power tablets, desktop PCs and laptops. At the moment, it seems like Windows 7 with Windows Phone 7 skin on top of it with advanced features, suitable for gadgets with extra processing capabilities. However, we kinda like what we see, especially the multi-tasking aspect. Hit the break below to continue reading. Unlike Apple’s iOS and HP’s webOS, Microsoft is not willing to compromise on features. Rather, it wants all features that a user gets on a desktop to be available on a Tablet. We are not sure how that would affect battery management apart from core performance (you’d know if you have used a netbook with a 1.6 GHz processor) but probably that’s where ARM architecture could come into play, at least on the power management front. This is a big gamble for Microsoft, as it won’t just be betting all its chips on W
