We are trying to run the EMCRPTS___.exe (x64 / x32 bit) version on one of the server, however it is throwing some error like 'The system cannot find the specified path' and come out without prodcuing a report. Then we tried investigating why it is not running and not creating the report in c:\windows\EMCReports folder. Found that issue with the existing EMCReports folder which is causing the issue. When we run the EMCRPTS__.exe file, it tries to create a folder called EMCReports in c:\windows path. Some times, this folder already exists and won't allow to overwrite information under this. Remove the EMCReports folder from the c:\windows directory and re-run the EMCRPTS.exe file.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs is taking a break from medical leave on Monday to preside over the opening of the company's annual conference for software developers. And in a break from Apple's usual practice of shrouding its events in an air of mystery, the California gadget-maker this time revealed ahead of time what it plans to announce at the event in San Francisco. In a press release, Apple said Jobs and other executives will unveil the next generation of Lion, the software that powers Macintosh computers, and iOS 5, the next version of the mobile operating system for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. And one more thing: iCloud. Apple described the previously unknown iCloud as its "upcoming cloud services offering" but provided no further details of what awaits at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference. "iCloud was almost a throwaway line in the press release," said Michael Gartenberg, an analyst for technology research company Gartner. ...

According to Sophos’s annual Internet Security Threat Report, malware attacks, phishing and spam reports, are all on the rise across social networks. Sophos analysts define the terms in the following ways: Malware A malware attack is a piece of malicious software which takes over a person’s computer in order to spread the bug onto other people’s devices and profiles. It can also infect a computer and turn it into a botnet, which means the cyber criminal can control the computer and use it to send malware to others. Phishing Phishing attacks are designed to steal a person’s login and password details so that the cyber criminal can assume control of the victim’s social network, email and online bank accounts. Seventy per cent of internet users choose the same password for almost every web service they use. This is why phishing is so effective, as the criminal, by using the same login details, can access multiple private accounts and manipulate them for their own good. Spamming Sp...

Whenever you open and start the Skype application, it first loads the skype.exe and also along with this another process which is skypePM.exe is also loaded. Basically, the skype.exe is the plugin manager which always loads during the start of the skype even though if you are not using a single plugin in skype. Considering the fact that, this process uses over 15 MB of RAM which actually does nothing. Since it uses 15+ MB of RAM, we will see now the way with which you can get rid of this plugin manager process skypePM.exe. The simple and powerful way is to simply rename or even you can delete the folder named Plugin Manager which generally installs during the installation of skype. As soon as this folder is deleted, the skypePM.exe process during startup doesn’t load up which in turn speeds it up quite a bit and thus saves the RAM as well. If you are unable to find the folder of Plugin Manager then in some cases  it’s located on the same directory level as my Sky...

You’ve thrilled to Windows Internals, now thrill to Mark Russinovich’s latest masterpiece, the novel Zero Day . It looks somewhat like Daniel Suarez’s Daemon, I think: An airliner’s controls abruptly fail mid-flight over the Atlantic. An oil tanker runs aground in Japan when its navigational system suddenly stops dead. Hospitals everywhere have to abandon their computer databases when patients die after being administered incorrect dosages of their medicine. In the Midwest, a nuclear power plant nearly becomes the next Chernobyl when its cooling systems malfunction. At first, these random computer failures seem like unrelated events. But Jeff Aiken, a former government analyst who quit in disgust after witnessing the gross errors that led up to 9/11, thinks otherwise. Jeff fears a more serious attack targeting the United States computer infrastructure is already under way. And as other menacing computer malfunctions pop up around the world, some with deadly results, he realizes tha...

The scourge of the mobile gadgets is barely containable. Its necessity is no longer debated. It is a reality that without mobile phones, it would be impossible to keep up in this fast changing world. The need for innovation in this fast changing environment gave birth to what business people and techies call the “smartphones”. Those who were once glued to their laptops and PCs for Internet connectivity have found a ‘smarter’ way to get connected. Smartphones have conquered the world and gained dominion over the lives of people living in the fast lane. This has led to the clash of smart phone developers who are trying to provide the best services to their customers. Android phones and BlackBerry phones are just two such competitors in the smart phone industry. These two giants are constantly driving technological boundaries beyond the edge in order to be the best. BlackBerry pioneered smartphones. It created its smartphone with the purpose of creating a multi tasking system fo...

Apple is known as the most secretive consumer company in Silicon Valley, and leaks are rare. But the iPhone prototype was left in a bar in the Silicon Valley town in Redwood city. Photos of the device began surfacing on technology blogs, sparking a frenzy of hype among the Apple-obsessed. This embarrassing leak has caused the California-based tech juggernaut a huge impact economically. At the point of writing, potential iPhone 3GS customers are abandoning their plans to purchase the widely-popular smartphone, which sold 8.75 million units for the quarter ended March 27. People prefer to wait for the newer and faster iPhone 4G, which is rumored to be announced on June 22 and available in stores in September. I believe that this iPhone prototype will not become the next generation of iPhone, and Steve Jobs and Co. will make Gizmodo a laughing stock by launching a phone of different design. Apple can’t possibility sell an iPhone that millions of pairs of eyeballs have ...

“If ever, oh ever, a wiz there was The Wizard of Oz is one because…” – Wizard of Oz, 1939 As the 1939 cinematography classic, Wizard of Oz , is one of my favorite movies of all time, I had to write about this one. So today, on August 12th, 2010, Google has updated their Google doodle today to celebrate the Wizard of Oz’s 71st anniversary. However, it does not seem to be showing up on all Google home pages, as I can see it on the Netherlands home page (eg http://www.google.nl/ ), for example, but not on the USA home page ( http://www.google.com/ ). Other sites, however, such as CBS News , appear to be able to see it on the Google USA home page. Despite its age, the Wizard of Oz still seems strikingly modern, a testament that some forms of art, sciences, or technology can have a timeless appeal to them. However, what was especially revolutionary at the time for that movie was that it adroitly combined the newly-developed Technicolor, fantasy, and an emotionally ric...

The year was 1996.  It had only been 15 years since 1981, when Microsoft had introduced their revolutionary DOS operating system on IBM and other PCs, and started their ambitious goal of putting a personal computer into every home.  The world had also just started to transition to the color of Windows 95 monitors after more than a decade immersed in monochrome monitors. That same year, Netscape Navigator, the world’s first successful internet browser, came out with two improved versions of its browser, versions 2.0 and 3.0. Two years ago, in 1994, Yahoo! had created the first comprehensive directory of the world wide web with their Yahoo! directory. The internet for the general public was born in the mid 90s, as many people rushed to post information onto the internet, supporting its initial growth. An early version of Netscape: With all this information on the internet, it was critical to find a way for people to find information. With a way to find inf...
